Biodiversity Tracker PRO
Explore real-time species data from any location. Professional analysis for architects, planners, researchers, and environmental agencies.
- • EU Habitats Directive & Natura 2000 protect 25% of European land and require environmental assessments
- • Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) mandate biodiversity surveys before development permits
- • Building permits require proof of ecological due diligence
- • Understanding species distribution protects ecological value and regulatory compliance
For Whom This Tool?
How to Use — 4 Steps
🧭 How this tool works — and what the numbers mean
How it works: You pick a location and a search radius (5–50 km). The tool queries GBIF — a global database of scientifically verified species occurrence records — and returns every species ever documented within that circle.
About the radius: Defines a circular search area. 5 km ≈ single property · 20 km ≈ municipal scale · 50 km ≈ regional landscape.
What the result means: Higher numbers indicate richer observed biodiversity — but low numbers may also mean the area is under-researched.
Intended use: Pre-screening, awareness, planning context. Not a substitute for on-site surveys required by EIA or Natura 2000.
